17-year NHL veteran reportedly hanging up the skates for the final time
With the calendar flipped to August most NHL free agents have found places to play for the fall. One player who is still available is second generation player Paul Stastny. The son of Hockey Hall of Famer, Peter Stastny, Paul has carved himself a very solid NHL career.
The second round pick started his career with the Colorado Avalanche, producing 70 point seasons for much of his time in Denver. Injuries began to catch up with Stastny as he moved on with his NHL career making stops in St. Louis, Winnipeg, Vegas, and Carolina.
Last season with the Hurricanes the 37 year old scored 9 goals and 22 points in 73 games. Stastny averaged a career-low 11:52 of ice-time per game.
The Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reports that Paul Stastny is calling time on his career.
Stastny played 1145 NHL games scoring 293 goals and 822 points.
