890 game NHL veteran announces retirement at just 33-years-old
After 890 NHL games and 13 seasons, spent with 4 different teams it appears Derek Stepan has made the difficult decision to call an end to his career. Derek Stepan was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.
After 7 seasons with the New York Rangers Stepan was traded to the Arizona Coyotes. Stepan spent 3 seasons in Arizona before being dealt to the Ottawa Senators. Finally Stepan signed a deal with the Carolina Hurricanes to play his final 2 seasons.
Today Stepan made the official announcement.
Derek Stepan has officially announced his retirement following 890 regular-season games and 120 playoff games over 13 NHL seasons.
Stepan finishes his career with 182 goals, 333 and 515 points. Happy retirement Derek!
