But could Jagr be back with the Penguins in a playing role? Probably not, but the 51-year-old did make an ominous post on his Instagram account on Monday afternoon.
Jagr was in Pittsburgh to take part in an autograph/meet & greet session at a convention, but took time to stop by the Penguins locker room at PPG Paints Arena and posed for a picture beside a uniform with his name on it and a framed newspaper that featured the NHL legend.
The ominous post suggests that Jagr will be back in Pittsburgh, but could it potentially be for a special occasion? Well, the Penguins have been trying to work with Jagr in recent years to retire his number 68 so it can hang from the rafters at PPG Paints Arena, but the Czechia native doesn't want it to happen until he retire from playing hockey.
Jagr's retirement from hockey doesn't appear to be on the horizon as he recently helped the club he owns, Kladno Knights, stave off relegation to remain in the Czech Extraliga for the 2023-24 season. Now that he's helped them stay in the top division in Czechia, many wonder if Jagr will hang up the skates and call time on his playing career.
If he does retire in the near future, keep an eye out for an announcement from the Penguins regarding a night to honour the legendary forward and retire his number 68.
