Yesterday, news broke that the Washington Capitals may be on the move from their home arena in D.C which came as a surprise to many, especially as D.C continues to try to secure a longer lease agreement.
Now according to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravelli the Mayor of D.C has just backed a large project that includes major renovations to Capital One Arena; take a look.
And, on the night news breaks about a press conference announcing the Capitals plan to move to Virginia - Washington DC mayor announces support for $500 million in renovations to their current home Capital One Arena.
The proposed plan would see Capital One Arena get 500 million dollars in upgrades over a period of three years as well as a new lease until 2052.
With the rumours swirling that the Capitals might move to Virgins this is an interesting development and certainly something to watch, but from the sounds of it, the mayor of D.C is willing to do whatever it takes to make Capital One arena the of the Washington Capitals for the foreseeable future.
