The Seattle Kraken has become relevant as a team, 3rd in the Pacific along with becoming buyers at the last trade deadline.

With a lot of depth in their forward group, Ron Francis is treating one rookie oddly.

Shane Wright was supposed to be scratched for 5 consecutive games to be sent down to the AHL to the Coachella Valley Firebirds on a conditioning stint however after Jared McCann was injured, he was forced into the lineup meaning they had to start the process over.

This means in total, Wright will miss 9 games of NHL and AHL opportunities further hampering his development.

At 15 Wright was given exceptional status in the OHL. 2 seasons in was considered a first-overall draft pick.

That changed in July as Juraj Slafkovsky was drafted first and Wright fell to the Seattle Kraken as they added another great Center to their depth, along with Matty Beniers.

«He comes back to Seattle on Dec. 4, and then if they're going to send him to the World Junior Hockey Championships, there is one game in between the end of the conditioning stint and the World Junior camp, and that game is against the Montreal Canadiens and you're gonna want to know that Shane Wright will want to play very much against the Canadiens,» Marek said.

So it seems, rather than giving the youngster playing time, and deciding to do this early on, Ron Francis and Dave Hakstol wasted their time and their draft picks time to develop.

It's amazing that the Kraken are so good in the midst of all this talent mismanagement.
