Insiders reveal next likely destination for Steven Stamkos
Steven Stamkos has only ever played for the Tampa Bay Lighting in his career up to this point, but he's also set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st this year in what many insiders and fans alike knew was coming. It seems as there's a likely destination should he leave the Lightning - fans aren't going to be too happy about it either.
According to insiders Chris Johnston of TSN and Joe Smith of The Athletic in a recent article they have mentioned 3 potential landing spots for the 34 year old star; take a look.
The Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators and Anaheim Ducks are on the list of destinations for Stamkos to continue his lengthy National Hockey League career. Though, I'm sure if he were to end up in a Panthers uniform come next season, Lightning fans wouldn't be too pleased.
Stamkos finished the regular season having played in 79 games with the Lightning this year. He scored 40 goals and added 41 assists for a total of 81 points. That's rather solid production from someone in the latter stages of his career.
While it would be weird to see Stamkos in another jersey, the writing has appeared to be on the wall most of the season.
All three teams mentioned could use him, it'll be interesting to see where the free agent market takes him to begin the 2024-25 NHL season.
