There's no question that Tatar would be a solid addition to any franchise's forward group, but a lot of teams are tight to the cap heading into the 2023-24 season.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, one Metropolitan Division team will target Tomas Tatar - the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kyle Dubas has been arguably the busiest General Manager in the National Hockey League this summer. Dubas has signed free agents such as Ryan Graves, Lars Eller, Noel Acciari, re-signed goaltender Tristan Jarry to a five-year deal and landed the reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson in a three-team trade with San Jose and Montreal.
Tatar, 32, had a solid regular season with the New Jersey Devils, but disappeared in the Stanley Cup Playoffs where he had only one goal in 12 games. In 82 regular season games, the Ilava, Slovakia native had 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists), 30 penalty minutes and was a plus-41.
