Seattle Kraken forward leaves North America, signs multi-year deal in Europe
After spending the last two seasons in North America split between the Boston Bruins and Seattle Kraken organizations, Swedish forward Jesper Froden has decided to return to Europe.
The ZSC Lions, a team in Switzerland's National League, announced on Sunday that they've agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Jesper Froden.
Note: the following is translated from German.
"Jesper is a very maneuverable wing with good speed and distinctive scorer qualities. He has scored over 20 goals on average over the past three years. As a right-hand shooter, Jesper will be valuable to our power play. He can also play box play and is therefore very versatile." said sports director Sven Leuenberger.
Froden, 28, spent parts of nine seasons playing professionally in Sweden before making the jump over to North America signing with the Boston Bruins for the 2021-22 season. He then became a free agent last summer and signed with the Seattle Kraken.
In 14 games for the Kraken, the Stockholm native put up four assists, six penalty minutes and was a minus-four. He spent the majority of the season with the AHL's Coachella Valley Firebirds, recording 47 points in 44 regular season games and ten points in 15 Calder Cup Playoff games.
