The Nashville Predators announced that defenseman Jeremy Lauzon will be out for the rest of the season and the next four to six months due to a lower-body injury, essentially giving him no opportunity to suit up anymore this season.
Lauzon, 27, has been out since the Predators' Dec. 31 game against the Minnesota Wild.
Playing 28 games during the current campaign, Lauzon recorded an assist, 34 blocked shots, 127 hits, and a minus-4 rating.
That was the follow-up to an outstanding 2023-24 season with six goals, and a career-best 14 points in 79 games, and a then-NHL record 386 hits.
Originally selected 52nd overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-3 defenseman played his first three seasons in the NHL with the Bruins.
Across 76 games with Boston, he tallied three goals, 11 points, 71 penalty minutes, and 145 hits before being snatched away by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft.
Lauzon initially exited the lineup with what was being referred to as a lower-body injury around Thanksgiving, leaving a game against the Devils on Nov. 25 prematurely.
He then missed 10 games before returning to the lineup, appearing in six straight before aggravating the issue against Minnesota as mentioned above.
While the team didn't confirm anything yet about what the future holds, today's announcement likely indicates he'll need or already has undergone surgery.
