Hockey is a game full of dreams, sometimes making the NHL is your dream and sometimes going to see your favourite team in action, as is the case for one U.K man, but sometimes what starts as a dream drip, ends in disaster.
According to Hockey Of Tomorrow a disabled U.K man, Rob Barrie, who has Motor Neurone Disease travelled from his home to Pittsburg go see his favourite team the Penguins live.
Unfortunately after the trip of a lifetime and sentimental gifts from Bryan Rust and Sidney Crosby which included signed sticks from both, as Barrie was flying home, the airline lost both sticks.
This was Rob's dream trip and he has been planning it for months. He is very unwell and for Rob to fly all the way there took so much out of him. He pushed himself to the limit but it was the chance of a lifetime.
Indeed it was a trip of a lifetime, as @RobBarrie389 family raised money for him to travel to America and see his favourite hockey team in action.
The trip was a massive success for Rob as he saw his Pens win and even got to meet Ryan Rust after the game.
His mother Lynn spoke with some local media "This was Rob's dream trip and he has been planning it for months. He is very unwell and for Rob to fly all the way there took so much out of him. He pushed himself to the limit but it was the chance of a lifetime.
Rob was also surprised with two signed hockey sticks, one by hockey icon Sidney Crosby & the other by Ryan Rust.
He left the Pittsburgh Airport on December 7 with British Airways and while checking in Robert said the check-in officer "took the sticks out of the bag".
The officer put them back in the bag but that was the last time Robert saw them.
Upon his return to Manchester, the bag was empty. The sticks are currently lost and can't be located.
"When I met him at the airport he was just sobbing his eyes out." - his mother Lynn
We'd kindly ask the Pittsburgh Penguins organization if they can help us get Rob a new set of hockey sticks signed by Sidney & Ryan.
Rob is a follower of ours and let us know of the situation via some tweets.
Rob went through airport security on December 7th, he had the sticks in hand, they were then taken from him and they've been unable to locate them since.
I'm sure the Penguins will find a way to get a new set of sticks to Barrie, but the air line needs to be held accountable.
