The Colorado Avalanche had a chance to capture their first Stanley Cup in 21 years on home ice last night in game 5 of the Cup final versus the Tampa Bay Lightning. That of course didn't happen as they fell 3-2 in a game they could've had, had it not been for the first goal.
After the game Avalanche coach Jared Bednar had this to say about his goaltenders performance
He (Keumper) was okay. I'd like to see him get that first one, obviously
The first goal he's referring to was a point shot from Lighting defender Yan Rutta that found its way through. There was no screen or deflection on the goal, just a seeing eye shot that Keumper should of had.
The Avs still lead the series 3 games to 2, and have another chance to close it out,but the 2-time defending Stanley Cup Champions have signs of life. Game 6 goes tomorrow at 8pm eastern.
