Bo Horvat embarrasses himself with an awful shootout attempt
The Vancouver Canucks have really struggled their first twelve games of the season. They have just three wins. Last night's loss put in it perspective how bad things have gone for Vancouver this year. Not only did they blow a three goal lead after the first period, they lost in a shootout in embarrassing fashion. Vancouver needed a goal to continue the shootout and called upon their captain and the guy known to score goals. Bo Horvat.
The Vancouver captain took the final shootout attempt for the Canucks and he humiliated himself. Horvat skated in towards Nashville goalie Jusse Saros. As he Horvat skated towards the slot, he mishandled the puck and over skated it ending the game. No game tying goal and not even a shot attempt as the Canucks suffer another tough loss. Jusse Saros didn't even have to do anything but stand there. It might be the easiest shootout round he ever faces.
This sums up how the Vancouver Canucks season has been going. They have struggled to play consistently. Their effort has been called into question and management has let them know changes will be coming if they can't turn it around. Even more alarming, Vancouver really struggles at keeping and holding a lead this year.
You have to have a little sympathy for Horvat. No one wants to be thought of as making an embarrassing mistake on the ice. Especially with thousands of fans in the stands. But it's hockey and sometimes that happens. Hopefully for Horvat and the Canucks they can regroup and forget about this ugly loss. Vancouver is in Ottawa on Tuesday night.
