On Spittin' Chiclets, Ryan Whitney, made a bold prediction that the Buffalo Sabres will win a Stanley Cup before the Toronto Maple Leafs do.

On the Podcast, Whitney claimed that Patrick Kane would be going to Buffalo and bringing a Cup to the team.

It WOULD make sense, that Chicago is trying to tear the team down to bare bones, after the moves they've made. However, will Patrick Kane even ask to be traded? It isn't in his best interest to stick around for a rebuild, so it begs the question why Buffalo?

Buffalo has one of the top prospect pools in the NHL, along with its young core of Peyton Krebs, Dylan Cozens, Rasmus Dahlin, Owen Power, and Alex Tuch.

They do have the cap space to make it work, with $19 million available, so hypothetically it makes sense.

But they're still rebuilding and the roster is currently built to tank, Eric Comrie and Craig Anderson are your goalies? I don't see it. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is still developing, but they're not contenders, not even close.

The Sabres may be contenders in 5 years, but adding a veteran forward doesn't spell Stanley Cup, but it does sound like Don Cherry's style of analysis, old and stale.
