You know, sometimes it take a while for a hockey game to get going, there tends to be a feeling out process of sorts. Both teams play passive until towards the end of the first or even into the second period. That however, is not how the Vegas Golden Knights Vs Buffalo Sabres game turned out yesterday.
Just shy of four minutes into the first period, Keegan Kolesar and Ilya Lyubushkin are heading into the corner and Kolesar decides to absolutely destroy Lyubushkin from behind in what is most likely going to end up being one of the biggest hits of the year, take a look:
Kolesar and Lyubushkin get to the puck at almost the same moment, but Kolesar doesn't lay off the hit, instead committing to it with Lyubushkins numbers in full view. As soon as Kolesar makes contact, Lyubushkin became airborne and goes head over heels.
A two minute penalty was assessed on the play for boarding and it drew a crowd after the fact, but no one from the Sabres dropped the gloves.
