The NHL Department of Player Safety has announced that they have officially suspended Pittsburgh Penguins' star, Evgeni Malkin. Malkin will receive a 4 games suspension for his cross
-check to the face of Nashville Predators, defenseman Mark Borowiecki.
The incident occured during Sunday night's game after the 2nd period had ended. Malkin and Borowiecki were engaged in a scrum as the period ended. Malkin began the interaction by slashing Borowiecki's stick into two, before cross-checking an approaching Boro. The cross-check left Boro dripping blood as he headed to the bench.
Malkin is known as one of the greasiest players, but this is just the 2nd suspension of his career. Malkin didn't comment on the situation.
