It has been quite the 2023 so far for Beck. On New Year's Day, Beck was named an injury replacement for Colton Dach on Canada's world junior championship roster en route to capturing the gold medal in Halifax.
"Just this month with the two call-ups, 2023 is off to a pretty good start for me,» Beck told reporters Saturday with the Canadiens set to face the Ottawa Senators, «It's pretty crazy everything that's happened in the past 365 days. I still feel I haven't had enough time to step back and process it all. It's pretty special and it's something I'll never forget for sure.»
Sportnet's Kyle Bukauskas was interviewing Beck's family, you could see the excitement from the family with his dad getting overwhelmed by the moment. It takes so much time, money and sacrifice from everyone involved to achieve such and accomplishment. Congrats to Beck and his whole family.
Beck has 44 points (19 goals and 25 assists) in 37 games this season split between the Steelheads and Petes.
After the game, the Port Hope, Ont. native was in a pretty good mood.
«I think there was a bit of an adjustment period for me,» Beck said, «but I don't think it took too long for me to start playing my game again.»
When asked where his confidence level was at following the experience, he said
«It's up there,» before spitting out, «You can't get too high or too low.»
«It's amazing having that kind of trust from an NHL coach and being on the ice with Caufield and Hoffman two very good NHL players,» Beck continued. «Getting that opportunity raises the confidence a little bit.»
