Someone cost Evan Rodrigues $8,500,000 and he's not happy about it
Even Rodrigues had the best season of his entire career last season. The 29-year-old put up 43 points, including 19 goals. Because of his production Rodrigues entered the off-season ready to cash in.
Unfortunately Rodrigues and his agent didn't play the market right and it definitely cost them. According to Frank Seravelli, Rodrigues received an offer early on, but his then agent convinced him to pass on the offer.
Frank Seravalli on Sportsnet 960 said that Rodrigues was offered a 3-year, $10.5M contract at the beginning of free agency that he passed on, which led to changing his agent.
Rodrigues eventually decided to fire his agent and after switching representatives he was able to lock down a 1-year deal worth only $2,000,000 per season. Not accepting the original deal cost him $8,500,000 and now Rodrigues is back to the drawing board trying to earn his next payday.
