With the Montreal Canadiens well on their way to one of the worst seasons in NHL history, Executive Vice-President Jeff Gorton and newly-hired General Manager, Kent Hughes have made it clear that they are definite sellers this season. One of the players on the Canadiens roster who is most coveted by other teams is Tyler Toffoli.
A noted goal-scorer, Toffoli finished 7th in League standings in last year's abbreviated season with 28 markers and he's currently tied for the team lead with nine goals in this disastrous season.
As Elliotte Friedman reports, the Calgary Flames are very interested in acquiring the 29-year old Scarborough, ON native:
Toffoli is under contract through the 2023-2024 season for a team-friendly AAV of $4.25M and it seems that the logistics of adding the winger to their current roster are doable:
Toffoli spent the first 8 seasons of his NHL career as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. He has managed 182 goals and 370 career points over a 614-game NHL career. He could certainly help provide some secondary scoring the the Flames.
*** UPDATE *** Toffoli to Calgary done! Here's the return.
