Colorado Avalanche goaltender heading to Europe after seven seasons in North America
The Colorado Avalanche will be down one goaltending option for the 2023-24 season as it was announced that Jonas Johansson has signed a two-year contract with Farjestad BK in the Swedish Hockey League.

"It will be great fun. Immediately when I heard that there was interest, you immediately felt that it was a hot option, so that is only positive. I'm already committed to next season." Johansson said about signing with Farjestad BK.
Johansson, 27, was a third round pick (61st overall) of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He came over to North America during the 2016-17 season and spent the majority of his time in the AHL and ECHL before making his NHL debut with the Sabres in February 2020.
The Galve (Sweden) native would go on to appear in 35 games across parts of four NHL seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers where he had a 11-13-4 record along with a 3.32 GAA, .887 save percentage and one shutout.
"When we realized that we needed to look for a new goalkeeper, we tried to quickly look at what options were available and pretty soon came up with Jonas' name as one of the options. When we got to talk to him, it immediately felt very right, and everything we've heard and seen has been very positive. What I like about him is that despite his experience of being away in North America for six years, it doesn't feel like he's fully developed. There are things to work on." Farjestad BK General Manager Rickard Wallin.
