Insider reveals how much money John Klingberg's agent cost him
When John Klingberg fired his agent it was clear that he was unhappy. Klingberg was advised by his agent to turn down an offer from the Dallas Stars early during last season. Fast forward to two weeks into free agency and Klingberg was without a contract or with a viable option.
Before Christmas last season the Dallas Stars offered Klingberg an 8-year contract worth a total $58,000,000 but Klingberg's agent advised him to decline. Instead his agent advised him to hold out for an 8-year offer with $64,000,000 or $8,000,000 per season. That offer never came.
Fast forward to the start of free agency and Klingberg sad looking for a 7-year deal worth $42,000,000. The deal already cost the defender $16,000,000 in total salary. But there were no bites.
Ultimately Klingberg ended up signing a 1-year deal worth $7,000,000 with the Anaheim Ducks. It's no wonder Klingberg fired his agent after he cost him a guaranteed $51,000,000 in salary.
