Sports writer tries to manipulate Hart Trophy vote, instead just embarrasses themselves
Connor McDavid is without a doubt the best player in the National Hockey League. Everyone knows this, well almost everyone. This is proven by his most recent Hart Trophy victory last night.
However, there appears to be one Hart trophy voter that has it out for McDavid as he was one vote away from being a unanimous winner last night. It wasn't a second, third or fourth place vote though, this voter cast a fifth place vote for McDavid; take a look.
After claiming the Hart Trophy as a unanimous selection in 2020-21, Connor McDavid nearly did it again in 2022-23, receiving the first-place vote on 195 of the 196 ballots for 1,951 voting points. #NHLAwards
Some writers and journalists don't like McDavid and that's fine, but there's no denying his skill with and without the puck. He deserved a second unanimous Hart win, and the person that put him in fifth place clearly shouldn't be allowed to vote during the NHL awards.
There is some speculation that the voter who didn't have him winning the award is a Boston Bruins writer, but that hasn't been confirmed. The only other first place ballot was cast for David Pastrnak, so a Bruins writer would make sense though.
