The Anaheim Ducks are continuing to put their final touches on their opening night roster, which is due to the National Hockey League at 5 p.m. ET on October 10th.

On Sunday evening, the Ducks announced that they have released longtime NHL forward Zack Kassian from his professional tryout contract (PTO), making him an unrestricted free agent once again.

We have made the following roster moves:

Olen Zellweger

Placed on Injured Reserve
Alex Killorn

Released from PTO
Zack Kassian

Kassian, 32, appeared in four games for the Anaheim Ducks during the preseason, putting up three points (one goals, two assists) and had seven shots-on-goal.

The Windsor, Ontario native's play was quite respectable, but there likely wasn't going to be a spot for him on the NHL roster, which is why the Ducks decided to release him from his PTO. It's unclear what may come next for Zack Kassian, but it wouldn't be too shocking if he ended up playing the American Hockey League this season.

This season, Anaheim is not expected to make a whole lot of noise in the Pacific Division, but should improve on their 23-47-12 record they had during the 2022-23 campaign.

Anaheim will open their 2023-24 schedule on Saturday, October 14th against the Golden Knights in Vegas.
