Trevor Zegras, the face of the Anaheim Ducks franchise, is still a restricted free agent as training camp opened in Southern California on Thursday.

The fact that the Ducks and Zegras' camp haven't been able to come to an agreement on a contract in the last few months is a little concerning, but both sides are reportedly willing to go with a three-year deal, as Pierre LeBrun mentioned on TSN's Insider Trading on Tuesday evening.

When it comes to the total dollar amount and average annual value of the new contract, both sides are quite far apart, with TVA Sports' Renaud Lavoie reporting that the Ducks have submitted an offer to Trevor Zegras and are certainly low-balling him.

Lavoie says that the Ducks are reportedly only offering Zegras $3-$4 million AAV, which is likely A LOT less than the 22-year-old was expecting, given his a big piece of the organization.

It's unclear where the Ducks and Zegras are in negotiations right now, but it's safe to say both sides aren't happy that a deal isn't done yet. It's unlikely that the Ducks will move Zegras because he's such a vital member of the team, but earlier today, Lavoie also mentioned that the Buffalo Sabres are interested in bringing him in.

Do you think the Ducks will be able to get Zegras under contract before their first game of the 2023-24 season on October 14th? Let us know what you think in the poll below.
