Brad Treliving makes his first hire with the Toronto Maple Leafs and hires Auston Matthews favourite player
Since the firing of Kyle Dubas the Toronto Maple Leafs have been scrambling to get their front office in order ahead of the off season. After terminating Dubas' deal, the Leafs also lost Jason Spezza, who tendered his resignation the same day. Multiple reports also surfaced that the Maple Leafs were expected to go through a major overhaul as many members of the front office were unhappy with things.
After announcing Brad Treliving as General Manager it was only a matter of time before the Leafs made an additional move. Today according to Kevin Weekes, the Leafs made the move hiring Shane Doan to be a member of the team's management group as an Assistant General Manager.
**Breaking News ** 🚨 📰
I'm told @MapleLeafs are naming Shane Doan as an Assistant to Treliving
Doan had a very successful NHL career, and has been working with the Arizona Coyotes since his retirement. Doan, is notably Auston Matthews favorite player and many wonder if this could play a role in his decision to extend with the Maple Leafs.
