The Calgary Flames were hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets last night looking to snap a three game losing streak.
During the second period of play Calgary forward AJ Greer was skating for a loose puck in the Blue Jackets zone, when he collides with Columbus defenceman Jake Bean. Greer goes into the boards awkwardly, giving his ankle a nasty twist in the process.
The 27 year old forward was claimed off waivers by the Flames at the beginning of the season after failing to make the Boston Bruins roster. Greer was effective for the Bruins last season playing in a forth line role for the team. In 61 games he scored 7 goals 12 points and amassed a whopping 114 penalty minutes.
In 46 games this season Greer has scored 4 goals and 10 points in 47 games this season.
Hopefully Greer's injury isn't as severe as the video appears. Long-term injuries can be especially hard on players who play fourth line roles, Greer's absence opens up the door for another player to potentially pass him on the depth chart permanently.
