It's been just over a month since the Calgary Flames and Brad Treliving parted ways and now the organization is on the lookout for a new General Manager.

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Flames have reportedly already begun speaking to people regarding the vacancy and one of those names is former Montreal Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin.

"I think some of the people they've talked to, I've heard Marc Bergevin's name." Friedman said.

Bergevin, 57, spent parts of ten seasons as the Canadiens General Manager after being hired in May of 2012 and was fired in November 2021. He helped construct a handful of contending teams for the Canadiens, especially in 2014 and 2021 when they reached the Eastern Conference Final and Stanley Cup Final, respectively.

Two months after being fired by the Canadiens, Bergevin found a new job and was hired by the Los Angeles Kings as a Special Advisor to General Manager Rob Blake.

Among the other likely candidates for the role include current Flames Assistant General Manager Craig Conroy and potentially even former NHL goaltender Sean Burke, as Friedman also mentioned on Monday's edition of the '32 Thoughts' podcast.

"Someone said to me a couple of weeks ago that they would not be surprised if Sean Burke was on Don Maloney's radar for the Calgary Flames, as a General Manager." Friedman said.

Flames management staff will have a lot to mull over in the coming weeks as interviews commence. There's no doubt the team would like to have a General Manager in place before the NHL Entry Draft at the end of June in Nashville.
