After another disappointing playoff exit the Carolina Hurricanes have reached a decision on the future of Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour.

Rod Brind'Amour has been the Head Coach of the Carolina Hurricanes for six years. Despite a large amount of regular season success, Brind'Amour hasn't been able to get the Hurricanes over the hump in the playoffs. Brind'Amour has led the Hurricanes to the Conference Finals twice, but has seen his team swept both times.

This season after running through the New York Islanders in 5 games, the Hurricanes ran into the New York Rangers. The Hurricanes fell behind early 3-0 in the series before fighting back valiantly winning 2 games, before finally losing the series in 6 games.

After this year's defeat there was some thought that Brind'Amour may find himself out of the job, however, Kevin Weekes revealed that Brind'Amour has signed an extension.

This is surprising given six years of disappointment and with rumors that the Hurricanes are going to be moving on from seven free agents, things could be getting much harder for the Hurricanes.
