The Carolina Hurricanes are at a weird point in their franchise. After producing some of the best teams in franchise history, the team still remains not good enough to get over the hump. This summer the team faces a tough test with multiple key players testing free agency.
Ahead of one of the most important summers in franchise history, the team was also forced to hire a new General Manager after the resignation of Don Waddell. According to reports the Hurricanes plan on altering the role of General Manager and making the position more of a liaison for upper management. After finding out the new direction of the role, multiple experienced candidates withdrew their candidacy.
Tulsky comes from an analytics background and has interviewed for other roles in the past, being passed over for roles with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs in the last year. While Tulsky represents a change, he is the safe choice at a time when the Hurricanes have major changes to make.
