Connor Bedard to miss significant time after going under the knife
The Chicago Blackhawks are set to be without their young superstar Connor Bedard for quite a while.
According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, Connor Bedard underwent surgery on Monday for a fractured jaw and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.
"Hearing Connor Bedard underwent surgery on Monday to repair his fractured jaw.
Bedard is expected to miss approximately 6-8 weeks, meaning #Blackhawks will unfortunately need an injury replacement at #NHLAllStar."
The 18-year-old suffered the injury during Friday's game against the New Jersey Devils after taking a hit up high from Brendan Smith. Bedard was forced to leave the game and did not return, while his teammate Nick Foligno stood up for him and dropped the mitts, but also had to leave with an injury of his own.
Bedard, a native of North Vancouver, was having a solid rookie season until his injury, putting up 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists), 12 penalty minutes and was a minus-22 in 39 games.
