Colorado Avalanche goaltender Alexander Georgiev had a game to forget on Saturday night against the Nashville Predators and may get himself into some trouble with the National Hockey League.

Less than a minute into the second period, the Nashville Predators scored their fourth goal of the game on their 13th shot to give themselves a 4-2 lead. Georgiev, who was understandably frustrated with himself, took the puck out of the back of the net and fired it over the glass into the crowd.

The officials noticed that right away and gave Georgiev a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct and Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar decided to pull him from the game and replaced him with Justus Annunen.

"Alex Georgiev gets a 2-min for unsportsmanlike and then the hook from his coach 🥴"

It's pretty rare to see a situation like this happen, but the National Hockey League has a zero tolerance for any objects being thrown or shot into the crowd, whether it be a stick, puck or any other piece of equipment.

The most famous incident regarding an object being thrown into the crowd happened just over 20 years ago, back in January 2004, when Toronto Maple Leafs captain Mats Sundin tossed his stick into the stands and was subsequently suspended for one game.

After Georgiev was pulled, the Avalanche rallied, scoring five unanswered goals, with Nathan MacKinnon having a four-point game, as Colorado defeated the Nashville Predators by a score of 7-4.
