The Columbus Blue Jackets have started the season with a 4-4-2 record through ten games, but behind the scenes, there's a situation to keep an eye on regarding 2021 fifth-overall pick Kent Johnson.

For the final 14 minutes of the third period of Columbus' win over the Tampa Bay Lightning, Kent Johnson found himself glued to the bench as his team fought back with three goals in the final frame to walk away with the victory.

Beyond that, Kent Johnson's season hasn't gone as he had hoped. He's found himself in the press box twice, including during the season opener and in eight games has only managed to put up three points.

Earlier this week, Johnson changed agents and is now represented by Pat Brisson, who played a big role in helping Pierre-Luc Dubois and Seth Jones get dealt out of Columbus.

Johnson's situation with the Blue Jackets has gotten even more difficult and frustrating after the team announced on Friday that he's been assigned to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters.

"TRANSACTION: The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled F Yegor Chinakhov from @monstershockey and assigned F Kent Johnson to their AHL affiliate. #CBJ"

It's going to be interesting to keep an eye on this situation over the coming weeks and months and many fans are wondering if this could signal the end of Johnson's time with the organization and whether or not he'll submit a trade request. It seems like it would be unlikely that the Blue Jackets would accommodate that request and that they wouldn't want to give up on the 21-year-old, but with the way things are heading, it wouldn't be entirely shocking to see.
