Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Recchi is going back behind an NHL bench. The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that Recchi has been named as assistant coach with the team to help newly named head coach Pascal Vincent.
According to Chris Johnston, Recchi will be responsible for the Blue Jackets' powerplay.
Recchi has his name on the Stanley Cup five times; with Pittsburgh, Carolina and Boston as a player, and twice with Pittsburgh as a development coach. Recchi last served as an assistant coach with the New Jersey Devils from 2020 to 2022.
Vincent was named head coach of the Blue Jackets after Mike Babcock resigned from the team before even coaching a game.
