Columbus Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell was full of praise for his old colleague and his eventual replacement in Carolina Eric Tulsky while speaking to the Raleigh Centennial Authority.

Waddell would provide a mic drop last sentence which caught the media's attention..

"We're trying to make a trade right now.

Could something be brewing between Wadell and his former team? Columbus does have one player on the block.

Finnish sniper Patrick Laine informed the Blue Jackets that he is looking for a change of scenery, something that Waddell is trying to accommodate.

Laine recently completed his time in the NHL's assistance program. Rumors have been running rampant on where he will end up since the news of his trade request became public.

The 26 year old, scored 6 goals and 9 points in only 18 games during an injury riddled last season. His two seasons prior he was averaging close to a point a game, producing 108 points in 111 games.

Laine has two years remaining on his contract, carrying a cap hit of $8.7M. He does hold a 10 team no-trade clause in his contract but I am pretty confident Carolina isn't one of the teams on it.

The Hurricanes best player Sebastian Aho is a fellow countryman of Laine's, could help him get acclimated to his new surroundings in Carolina.
