Kane had a solid first season in Detroit and was nearly a point-per-game player and the veteran forward will return to the Red Wings for another year, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
In a post on X, Friedman shared that the Red Wings have signed Kane to a one-year contract with a base salary of $4 million USD. In addition to his base salary, Kane has the potential to earn an additional $2.5 million in bonuses if he reaches certain thresholds.
The Buffalo, New York native will earn $1.5 million once he plays ten games and then another $250,000 at the 60-game mark. If the Red Wings clinch a berth in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Kane will get $500,000. The last bonus Kane could earn is $250,000 if he hits the 60-point mark AND Detroit makes the playoffs next season.
Kane, 35, appeared in 50 games for Detroit last season where he put up 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists), 16 penalty minutes and was a minus-five.
With Kane now signed, Red Wings General Manager Steve Yzerman can turn his attention to the free agent market as they're expected to be one of the busier teams on Monday, even being linked to former Tampa Bay Lightning captain Steven Stamkos.
