Detroit Red WIngs captain Dylan Larkin leaves game briefly after taking a slap shot to knee
The Detroit Red Wings are on the outside looking in, in terms of a playoff spot with nine games left in the 2023-2024 playoffs, and by all accounts, at least in the moment, it would appear that they may need to continue to fight without their leader and captain Dylan Larkin, who was injured thirty seconds into the first period Saturday afternoon as the Detroit Red Wings visited the Florida Panthers.
The incident that caused Larkin to head straight to the dressing room involved a point shot from the point by Red Wings teammate Jeff Petry, which caught Larkin in the left leg, specifically the inside of the knee, where little to no padding exists.
During crunch time in the National Hockey League, where every game matters when you have a fighting chance to make the playoffs, it's usually all hands on deck no matter what players are dealing with in terms of ailments.
The good news for the Red Wings and Larkin is that he returned shortly after being reevaluated.
