Last night the ESPY Awards show took place with comedian Nikki Glaser tasked with introducing the «Best Male Athlete» nominees. She brought her usual wit to the stage, throwing one-liners towards golfer Scottie Scheffler, MLB star Shohei Ohtani, NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes (who took home the award), and Oilers captain Connor McDavid.

Glaser's joke directed at McDavid and the Oilers, was a jab on their failure to complete the comeback after being down 3-0, forcing Game 7, to wind up losing the Stanley Cup to the Florida Panthers.

«Nothing will stand in the way of these incredible athletes and their pursuit of greatness except the Florida Panthers,» said Glaser, opening the Oilers portion of her monologue.

Glaser turned her attention to McDavid, who was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy despite losing the series.

«Boy, Connor, that must have hurt; to lose a game of ice hockey to a place that doesn't even have ice,» she added.

The camera then turned to McDavid's Oilers teammate Evander Kane, who didn't find Glaser jokes amusing at all.

She finished clowning on the Oilers and McDavid with one final joke.

«For now, the only Stanley Cup Connor will get to hold is the one his wife asked him to grab out of the cabinet,»
she said.

McDavid was not in attendance for the event but stil earned the Best NHL Player award.
