The San Jose Sharks have made several moves in the last few days, and now it's the Edmonton Oilers that have landed star defenseman Jake Walman, their second solid move of the past week to upgrade their team.

The Edmonton Oilers made a good pickup early in trade deadline week when they landed Trent Frederic of the Boston Bruins, and now, they've made another good addition, this time to their blue line.

After David Pagnotta speculated on the move, he has followed it up with the official report that Jake Walman has now officially been traded to the Edmonton Oilers, a much needed boost to their struggling blue line.

The 29-year old made a name for himself with the Detroit Red Wings before being picked up by San Jose in the summer, and in 50 games this year, he's posted 6 goals and 32 points with just a -1 differential on a very bad Sharks team.

For the Oilers, this is a much needed pickup for a team that has struggled to score and keep the puck out of the net, and while Walman has no experience in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, this could be just the type of spark that they need to turn things around in a big way.

Standing at 6-foot-1, the Ontario native has plenty of skill and the physical traits to step up in the big games down the stretch for the Oilers, and if they can get Mattias Ekholm, Darnell Nurse and their blue line healthy, all of a sudden things look much, much better in Edmonton.

According to Frank Seravalli, roster constraint issues may hold the team back from acquiring Walman today, but all signs continue to point towards a deal being announced before the trade deadline.
