Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers revealed at his media availability today the extent of his injuries and if he'll be ready for the regular season or not.

The Edmonton Oilers are beginning training camp with an increased focus as they look to repeat another epic playoff run following the heartbreaking Game 7 loss to the Florida Panthers. With training camp opening, the health of one key member of the team is in question.

Veteran forward Evander Kane has been battling a hernia injury since last season. It effected his play in the playoffs significantly. There were times during the playoffs that Kane was unable to sit on the Oilers bench due to the pain he was in.

Kane revealed the extent of his injuries as two torn muscles in his abdomen as well and two hernias. The timeline isn't known until the doctors can complete a full evaluation.

In 77 regular season games last season, Evander Kane scored 24 goals and 44 points while averaging 16:46 in ice time. Kane has two years remaining on his contract, which carries a cap hit of $5.125M.

The Oilers currently have just over $945k in available cap space per Puck Pedia. If Kane has surgery his cap hit could be moved to LTIR.
