Florida Panthers head coach Paul Maurice was very frustrated with how his team played on Thursday night against the New York Islanders when meeting with the media.
The Panthers fell to the Islanders on Thursday night by a score of 3-2 and despite the loss, they clinched a berth in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. When asked about the team clinching a playoff spot, Maurice wanted no part of it, telling reporters it's "free f--king quote day" and to take anything he may say and use it, adding he won't be mad.
It's been a rough go for the Florida Panthers in the last two weeks. In the past two weeks, the Panthers have played seven games where they have a record of 1-5-1, losing to teams ahead of them in the Eastern Conference standings such as the Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers.
With only nine games to go until the conclusion of the 2023-24 NHL regular season, Paul Maurice is hoping his team can turn around their recent form and go on a run before the most important time of the season - the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Currently, as of Friday morning, the Florida Panthers occupy the second spot in the Atlantic Division and are lined up to play the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round.
