Insider wonders if Kings are in on Predators starting goalie
As the Los Angeles Kings were part of a three-way deal today that sent Ivan Provorov from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Blue Jackets and Cal Petersen from the Los Angeles Kings to Philadelphia Flyers, reports have surfaced that the Kings and Nashville Predators spoke during the 2022-2023 season about the possibility of a trade centred around goaltender Juuse Saros before the Kings landing Korpisalo and Gavrikov.
Now, it's no secret that with the deletion of Petersen, the Kings are in desperate need of a goaltender as they have Pheonix Copley and Matt Villata under contract so an upgrade at the position makes sense. Saros has two years remaining on a contract that pays him $5 million a season so the question is what would it take.
A likely scenario to obtain the services of the all-star goaltender would likely look like multiple first-round picks as well as prospects, but as it goes further into the offseason, it may not be something Nashville is willing to part with.
With a little over three weeks until the 2023 Entry Draft, only time will tell if the Kings need a goaltender that badly and if that's the case, is Nashville comfortable handing the reigns to Kevin Lankinen, at least in the short term.
