Minnesota Wild ink 36-year-old forward to multi-year extension
With the 2023-24 season getting underway in just under two weeks, the Minnesota Wild have decided to sign one of their veteran forwards to an extension, keeping him around a little while longer.
On Friday, the Wild announced that they've signed Mats Zuccarello to a two-year extension worth $8.25 million ($4.125 million AAV), which is set to begin ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. This new extension will keep Zuccarello in the State of Hockey until after the 2025-26 season.
The 36-year-old has been with the Wild for the last four seasons, the last two of which have been the most productive years of his National Hockey League career.
In 78 games last season, the Oslo, Norway native had 67 points (22 goals, 45 assists), 26 penalty minutes and was a minus-three. Zuccarello went on to add five points in six Stanley Cup Playoff games.
