With the events of Saturday night's Toronto Maple Leafs visit to Montreal to play the Montreal Canadiens fresh on everyone's mind and the the events that transpired, it has been revealed that a passionate Montreal Canadiens fan has put a GoFundMe campaign together to raise funds for a charity in which is close to Canadiens defenceman Arber Xhekaj heart. He is an ambassador.
HFTV Sports on X put together the campaign to raise funds for a charity called the Angel Project Canada. The charity's mission is to provide funding for medical, therapy and communications devices for patients in Long-Term Care facilities. The charity also provides ongoing support with personal hygiene and comfort items and gifts at Christmas. The goal for the GoFundMe was to raise $3386, fifty-eight cents more than Xhekaj's fine.
Whether you believe Arber Xhekaj is a bad guy for what he did to Cedric Pare is a personal opinion that you're allowed to have. But for a young man who has the fortune to play a game for a living to use his status as a professional hockey player for good is quite incredible. Xhekaj's job is to be an antagonist, his off-ice personality does not reflect the man he is whatsoever. The fact of the matter is that Arber Xhekaj owes nobody anything but out of the goodness of his heart he has put his name behind a cause that he truly believes in and that in itself whether you like him or not should be celebrated far and wide.
