The NHL announced an official verdict on Jacob Trouba's controversial hit on Montreal Canadiens' young defenseman Justin Barron.

On Tuesday night, the New York Rangers were in Montreal to face the Canadiens. They delivered a solid team effort to win 7-2 against former Rangers player Martin St. Louis and his men.

In the third period of the game, Rangers captain Jacob Trouba landed yet another controversial hit. He sent the Habs' young defenseman Justin Barron to the locker room with a shoulder hit to the head.

Here's how it went down:

In breaking news, the reporter Greg Wyshynski revealed that no further discipline is expected from the NHL Department of Player Safety.

This is frustrating for Canadiens fans for multiple reasons:

- Barron has a history of head injuries and while no update on his health was revealed, it looks clear that he's suffering from yet another concussion;

- After the hit, Habs defenseman Michael Matheson forced Trouba to drop the gloves. Trouba got a two-minute penalty, while Matheson was ejected from the game;

- The Rangers captain didn't hesitate to land that hit even if his team was leading 5-2 in the third period;

- Barron's name was added to the injury reserve, joining Juraj Slafkovsky, Patrik Laine, and Kaiden Guhle.

Once again this season, the Canadiens are plagued with injuries. Seeing Trouba injure yet another player and avoid consequences only makes things worse.

An official update on Barron is expected soon. Stay tuned as we look forward from bringing the latest details to you.
