In the final month of his tenure, the longest tenured GM in the league, David Poile, may leave the door open for the club to make a major change when Barry Trotz takes over the Nashville Predators on July 1st this year.
At the moment, head coach John Hynes is signed through next season but with reports from Elliotte Friedman that the club is speaking with other candidates, it's likely Hynes will be let go this offseason.
Hynes has been the coach of the Predators since the 2019-20 season, leading them to two playoff berths and first round losses in that time. With a losing record, making a GM change, and a need for building tangible success in Nashville, Hynes should be let go in favour of a new voice.
Hynes will join a litany of experienced head coaches looking for an opportunity this summer, including Gerard Gallant, Andrew Brunette, Peter Laviolette, and more. As teams making coaching changes throughout the offseason, Hynes will likely be considered a strong candidate.
