Long-time Lightning Captain Steve Stamkos Has Signed In The Western Conference
After sixteen seasons, and two Stanley Cups Steve Stamkos is done with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The 34 year old, has officially signed a four-year, $8M AAV contract with the Nashville Predators.
It is rumored that Stamkos was offered a long-term contract with a $3M AAV in Tampa but it wasn't enticing enough for their captain. Stamkos was wasn't happy when the Lightning didn't offer him an extension last summer.
Nashville is getting great value on their contract with Stamkos. He has proven that he is still a lethal shooter, producing 40 goals and 81 points in 79 games last season. The 1st overall pick from 2008 has scored 555 goals and 1,137 points in 1,082 regular season games all with the Lightning.
It is going to be an odd seeing #91 in the mustard yellow with a Predator on his chest instead of the Lightning crest.
