Through 20 games this season, the Nashville Predators sit at 6-11-3, no where near where people expected they would be after landing Jonathan Marchessault, Brady Skjei and Steven Stamkos this past summer.
Unfortunately, things are just going from bad to worse, with a 3-0 shutout loss to the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night ruining any momentum they had found after a victory over the Vancouver Canucks in their previous outing.
The scoreline wasn't the most embarrassing thing for Nashville on the night however, as the game started in the worst way possible, as the team were given a minor penalty to start the game as they iced the incorrect lineup.
According to speculation from Alex Daugherty of The Tennesseean, the team named Steven Stamkos to start the game, but instead it was Filip Forsberg that took the ice, giving them a minor penalty right from the outset of the game.
It appeared the team simply didn't recover from this embarrassing mistake early in the game, as the team got just 24 shots on net, making it four losses in five games on their current road trip.
In fact, things have gotten so bad that GM Barry Trotz is reportedly considering pushing this team towards a rebuild, but with so much talent, these struggles can only go on for so long.
Regardless of the result or the poor start, this start to the game is something that will be replayed among the greatest blunders in NHL history for years to come, and if the team can't find any way to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoffs race, this disaster of a season could be one of the worst things to ever happen to the Predators organization.
