A tough season has just become a whole lot tougher for a young rising star with the New York Rangers. Filip Chytil is leaving the team and returning to his home country of Czechia.

A report from the New York Post says Chytil and the Rangers reached an agreement for him to return home and continue to recover from a concussion he is suspected to have gotten during a game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 2.

"The decision, reached mutually by Chytil's camp and team hierarchy, will allow No. 72 to experience the next phase of his recovery at home in a familiar environment where he will be surrounded by friends and family."

"He is scheduled to fly home Friday night."

This isn't Chytil's first concussion. In fact, this is believed to have been at least his third. There is some belief that a colllision with Jesper Fast caused the concussion. However, Chytil played eight more shifts in that game following the hit. He hasn't played since. One positive for the Rangers with this is it gives the team more cap space to use.

"If Chytil is unable to return during the regular-season, the Rangers would gain approximately $3.8 Million of additional space off the center's $4.437.500M cap hit to bulk up the roster. Using that money would not preclude Chytil returning for the playoffs."

Chytil was a first-round pick, 24th overall, of the Rangers in 2017. The 24 year old enjoyed a breakout year last season, scoring 22 goals and totalling 45 points. There is no approximate timeframe given for his potential returns. That can be very tricky to do when it comes to a concussion.
