The New York Rangers organization has been full of drama over the past few days, and now Chris Kreider has spoken out after being named as a trade candidate.

At 12-7-1 on the season, most teams in the NHL would be thrilled with the start to the year, but not the New York Rangers, who shocked the hockey world when they leaked that star forward Chris Kreider is available for trade.

As the longest tenured player in New York, many believed that Kreider would be a Ranger likely for the rest of his career, and while he hasn't been bad this season, the entire top-six has failed to click like we've come to expect.

On Tuesday, reports emerged that GM Chris Drury met with top players in order to cool the situation in the locker room, with the hopes that the possibility of a trade could spark them into action.

Now, Kreider has broken his silence on the situation, and unsurprisingly, he's focused on how this latest drama can spark the team, rather than worrying about his spot in New York.

«I think it's pretty obvious there's frustration, angst, tension. Good. We're 20 games in. Let's go through this shit now and figure out who we are. We had the best regular season in the history of an Original Six franchise last year, won a Presidents' Trophy and didn't go as far as we would've liked. We're getting exposed right now. Our warts are out there and teams are picking on the things we don't do well and we've gotten away from the things we do do well.

«We don't necessarily know what this is right now, right? This could just be part of the story. We look back at this and say, 'This made us better.'»

At this point, there's been no revelations of teams pushing hard to acquire Kreider, and while that doesn't mean a trade is off the table, it shows that the locker room is ready to put their heads down and work.

This story definitely isn't going away however, and unless something drastic changes in New York on the ice, trades could start flowing as they chase a Stanley Cup.
