This season has been a wild one for the New York Rangers, and while the team almost fell apart amidst plenty of drama and trade spceulation, they're back in with a chance at a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot in 2024/25.
One player they haven't got much out of thus far is 31-year old veteran Jimmy Vesey, who came to New York and renewed his career with a combined 51 points and a +9 differential over the last two seasons.
In 2024/25 however, he has just 4 points through 26 games played, and in an interview with Larry Brooks of the New York Post, he's opened up on how the lack of a role with the team has made him struggle away from the ice too.
With the likes of Matt Rempe coming in and out of the Rangers lineup, Vesey's playing time simply hasn't been consistent, and after struggling to find the chemistry that he's seen over the last few years, his NHL future remains up in the air.
This isn't the first time players have been openly frustrated in New York this season, with Jacob Trouba and Kaapo Kakko both traded from the squad already, and with no solutions in their bottom-six thus far, it's unclear if Vesey has much of a role moving forward either.
Ultimately, Vesey is a free agent after the 2024/25 season, and with so little production under his belt, it's unclear what his interest will be over the summer, and if he can't find a role in New York with a struggling forward group to prove himself, it may be the last we see of him in the NHL.
