The Calgary Flames have been looking to move Andrei Kuzmenko all season long, and now, the NHL's top insider has suggested that a deal is imminent.

Despite their surprising push for a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot in 2024/25, the Calgary Flames are still open for business, with the team making the surprise healthy scratch of Andrei Kuzmenko on Thursday.

According to Sportsnet reporter Eric Francis, that had plenty of people talking in Calgary about a potential deal being imminent, and now Elliotte Friedman has confirmed the team are looking to get a deal done, with discussions with the Philadelphia Flyers progressing quickly.

The 28-year old was incredibly productive a season ago after arriving in Calgary in a trade from Vancouver, as he posted 11 goals and 25 points in 29 games played, with many seeing him as a major trade chip coming into 2024/25, especially given the Flames likely desire to tank this season.

However, he's been incredibly quiet thus far, playing in 37 games this season with just 4 goals and 15 points in that time, with question marks raised over what trade value he could even have left.

Speculation over this move has revealed this is likely to get Matvei Michkov a Russian teammate, and given how comfortable both players have to be to excel on the ice, it would certainly make sense as it would give Philadelphia an incredibly dynamic third line combination.

More details to come once this deal becomes official and we learn the return, but for now, it appears as though the 28-year old is headed to the Philadelphia Flyers, who are looking to push for a post-season spot of their own while the Flames look to move one of their few unrestricted free agents at seasons end.
